“seeing red.” is a 60-page editorial book that outlines the connection between fashion, nostalgia and the 90s. Inspired by my own nostalgia for a decade I never first-handedly experienced, “seeing red.” is a culmination of academic research and visual contents to juxtapose the pivotal events of the 90s with my own nostalgized perspective as a creative. Focusing on three overarching trends: grunge, globalization and realism, I hope to encapsulate the zeitgeist of how each of these phenomena outlines this revolutionary decade and how they have manifested into the modern fashion industry we know today. As a creative, looking for inspiration is one of the most integral parts of crafting a personal, creative identity and perspective. Nostalgia is almost always consciously or subconsciously a factor in all creatives’ processes, as it was in mine through the conception of “seeing red.”. Through use of layout design, typography, analogue elements, academic research and photography, “seeing red.” is the culmination of my academic research and creative output in depicting how I use my own nostalgia to craft my creative identity.
